OPHELIA GERMANY

William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” contains one of the most poetic deaths in all literature, that of Ophelia.

Ophelia’s drowned body, lying in the water near plants and herbs, remains one of the most iconic scenes. It is both beautiful and loaded with symbolism. Using Ophelia’s death in a sculptural work, PixelPancho hopes to show how humanity has continually built itself with utter disregard for nature.

The symbolism derives not only from the beautiful flowers that grow with ancient human technology, but above all from the luminous algae that are representative of the countless beautiful species that humanity has eradicated since its inception.
